krefeldŽ seating collection Designed by Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe
In 1927, while planning two residences in Krefeld, Germany, Modernist
architect Mies van der Rohe conceived a restrained, emblematic lounge
chair, ottoman and companion table which embody the syntax, skill and
diversity of his work.
The KrefeldŽ Collection by KnollStudioŽ, developed in collaboration with
The Museum of Modern Art, is a "furniture suite" based on
Mies' original drawings. The beautifully proportioned pieces,
originally specified in leather by Mies, offer intimate scale and
exceptional comfort; Mies' often-overlooked fondness of traditional
furniture types permeates the collection.
KrefeldŽ reflects the KnollStudioŽ committment to timeless, enduring
design, continuing the Knoll legacy of producing Mies' furniture,
including the iconic BarcelonaŽ, Brno and MR collections, to the exacting
standards of the master.
